hahaha = normal laughter, also laughing at someone but without malice
hehehe = chuckling to yourself
hihihi (also: tihihihi, gnihihihi, etc.) = giggling
hohoho = reserved for old men with big bellies and full beards, like Father Christmas or Halvar from Vicky the Viking
~~huhuhu = that’s ghosts, not laughter~~
and because Umlauts:
hähähä (also: kähähä) = cackling, the sound of Schadenfreude
höhöhö = you’ve just made/heard a dumb pun or joke (may also be a bit suggestive) and while you are genuinely amused, you acknowledge that it‘s dumb
~~hühühü = a horse, also not laughter~~
special editions:
bwahahaha = excessive, boisterous laughter
